What Blood Pressure Drug is Being Recalled?
The name of the blood pressure drug is Chlorthalidone. It is being recalled by Inventia Healthcare Limited of India, and was distributed by Risiong Pharma Holdings, Inc of East Brunswick, New Jersey.
More specifically, 13,567 bottles of their USP 25mg Chlorthalidone are being recalled. Here's the essential details you need to know if you're worried about your blood pressure drugs being affected:

- Batch number - RISA24001 / RISB24002 / RISA24002
- Expiration date - April 2027
- Recall numbers (from the FDA) - D-0582-2026 / D-0610-2026
Chlorthalidone is a diuretic, which can help lower blood production by making the kidneys remove extra salt and water.
What is Wrong With the Medication?
The affected drug has failed dissolution testing. This means that the drug may not properly dissolve in the body, meaning, if taken, it might not work properly.
This is a concern as it could cause problems for people with especially high blood pressure who rely on the drug to ensure complications don't arise.
The FDA has classified the recall as a Class II recall. They describe this class of recalls as "a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."
People who have affected medication have been advised to get in contact with their medical provider before they stop using the product.
This is also the second time that the blood pressure drug has been recalled this year. Their last recall was for the same reason as this month's.
This comes as high blood pressure is rising in the US, with over 119 million suspected cases nationwide. While many people take medications for their condition, many don't - which experts from the American Heart Association say could cause problems later in life.
As of now, no injuries or other issues have been reported from the issues with the blood pressure medication.
