Lucha Libre icon Solar II, who dedicated nearly 50 years to professional wrestling, has died. He was 66.

His brother, Solar I, a fellow Lucha Libre legend,
announced his passing on Facebook."It is with deep sorrow and immense pain that we announce the passing of Pedro Buenrostro—"Solar Segundo"—a beloved brother, family member, and friend," he wrote.
"The person sharing this news today feels both the pain and the privilege of having had him as a brother, and wishes to extend this sentiment to his entire family. As well as to his friends and all those who knew him, appreciated him, and shared important moments of his life."
The Lucha Libre brothers teamed up on multiple occasions throughout their careers, but primarily operated as singles stars.

Solar II captured the NWA World Welterweight Championship in 1988, his lone title reign. He held the belt for 96 days.
"In these moments of profound sadness, we are left with memories, shared stories, the affection we held for him, and the mark Pedro left on everyone fortunate enough to know him," Solar I wrote.
"To his entire family, friends, and loved ones: we share in your grief and send you an embrace filled with love and solidarity. May he rest in peace."
Solar II, whose real name is Pedro Buenrostro Gomez, battled health issues leading up to his death, according to Ringsidenews.com.
Solar II made his pro wrestling debut in 1980 and competed in 325 matches overall.
Known as a technician, the Lucha Libre star boasted an arsenal of acrobatic moves.
