Kentucky Fried Chicken is introducing a new chicken sandwich in China. And it is one of the more interesting versions of the classic fast food item.

The fast food giant will release a dessert fusion version of their chicken sandwich. The sandwich, officially named the Oreo Original Recipe Chicken Burger, features an Oreo cookie sandwich bun. The patty itself is topped with a brown mashed potato concoction and cookie crumble topping. And if you are health-conscious, not to worry the sandwich also comes with a single piece of lettuce.
Oreo Chicken Burger Set to Debut in China
If you live in the United States you'll need a passport and a plane ticket to try this version of the chicken sandwich. The Oreo Chicken Burger will exclusively be available in China to start. It hits the menu this Friday (August 28). There are no plans for it to hit the American market right now.
Of course, the new KFC menu item caught people's attention. This led to an outpouring of reactions on social media, as you might expect.
"KFC putting Oreo on a chicken burger is exactly the kind of culinary madness that would have terrified my mother," one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"KFC said let's ruin chicken and Oreos in one bite. They did it. And China gets to try it first. Pray for them," a second user chimed in.
"We can't figure out where 95% of the Universe's mass is but we do have Oreo-flavored KFC," a third user remarked.
However, the American version of the restaurant did recently release a new menu item. Hot ranch dipping sauce hit the KFC menu this past Monday (August 24).
Melissa Cash, KFC's chief marketing officer in the Uunited States says that the new Hot Ranch Big Dip says that the restaurant went through several rounds of quality assurance to give it the "perfect balance."
"We knew the product had to live up to that excitement, so we tested version after version until we found the perfect balance of creamy, tangy ranch with just the right kick of heat," Cash said (via The Daily Voice)
