Popular 2000s rock band Anberlin have announced their ninth studio album, marking a significant new chapter for the group.

The upcoming record will be their first full-length project with Matty Mullins, also the frontman of metalcore band Memphis May Fire, handling lead vocals.
Titled CURRENCY, the album is scheduled for release on November 11.
Rock Band Anberlin Announces First Album With Matty Mullins
Anberlin are producing the new record alongside Kellen McGregor, with its first single, "Neverafter," already hitting streaming services.
"It felt like we needed to make an album that let us embrace the roots of the band and truly 'reset' with Matty to make something that we would love and our fans would recognize," the band told Buzz Music.
Mullins joined Anberlin after longtime lead vocalist Stephen Christian stepped away from touring for an indefinite hiatus in 2023.
Rather than bringing the band to a halt, Anberlin recruited Mullins, who began touring with the group that same year. He later contributed vocals to two tracks on the band's 2024 album, Vega.
The 38-year-old has also re-recorded several older Anberlin favorites, including "Feel Good Drag" and "Paperthin Hymn."
CURRENCY will take that partnership significantly further, featuring 11 brand-new songs with Mullins serving as lead vocalist.
Matty Mullins Balancing Anberlin and Memphis May Fire
Mullins joined Memphis May Fire following an open audition in 2008 and has since become synonymous with the Texas metalcore group.
He has released eight studio albums with the band while continuing his work with Anberlin. Memphis May Fire released their latest record, Shapeshifter, in 2025.
For now, Mullins appears set to balance his lead vocal duties across both bands.
"Matty comes from a band that has their process fully hammered out over years of refinement, so I didn't envy him coming into a new situation with guys that have done the same in a completely different way," Anberlin added.
"It went so smoothly that you would've thought we'd already done this together a hundred times. Neither of us had to change much at all."
"I think that's all it comes down to: having a shared vision of what the end result will be. During the writing process, there were no egos clashing, no big dramas, just everyone communicating and working toward the same goal."
Anberlin's current lineup also features Christian McAlhaney on guitar and vocals, Joseph Milligan on guitar, Deon Rexroat on bass and Nathan Young on drums.
The band originally formed in Florida in 2002, with 2005's Never Take Friendship Personal helping establish their growing reputation in the alternative rock scene.
