According to an update on the case dated Monday, June 15, 2026, from the Lexington, South Carolina, Police Department, Moore has been missing "since Friday, June 12, 2026.  Ms. Moore was last seen walking away from Planet Fitness, at 560 Whiteford Way, toward a wooded area behind Lowe's Home Improvement Store. She was wearing an olive-green zip-up hoodie with black athletic pants." At that time, the search for Moore was still active and ongoing.

A Body Was Reportedly Found on Wednesday, June 17

Two days later, on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, the Lexington, South Carolina, Police Department made an announcement. It was very concerning. Following up on a tip, police headed to a wooded area near Old Cherokee Road, where a body was reportedly found. It was clad in garments that fit the description of what Elena Katherine Moore was last seen in. The body was not yet been identified. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division was moving forward with a death investigation.

Moore's Husband Said That Her Behavior Was Not Typical

Elena Katherine Moore's husband, Brannon Slice, reported his wife missing on Friday, June 12. He said, according to the Post, that her vanishing like that was "very out of character." Slice was not reportedly considered a person of interest in the case as of Tuesday, June 16.

It seems like Moore was allegedly acting oddly before she disappeared. According to NewsNation, a woman believed to be Moore was seen on Ring doorbell footage. She "appear[ed] confused and [was] attempting to enter a home" approximately on Thursday, June 4. The home is not far from where she was seen at the gym.

Per the outlet, a food delivery was brought to the home. For some reason, Moore picked it up. A resident of that home, John Moore, said, "Once I got the food from her, and I turned to walk back in the house, whenever she started to walk in the house with me, she seemed really confused and disoriented about where she was or whatever she was doing."
