Derry Township police reported that multiple fights broke out around the park on April 3, and those involved ranged in age from 12 to 19. Visitors were forced to hide their families and children under tables to avoid the wide-scale brawl.
Shockingly, the brawl reached such a fever pitch that the rollercoaster Skyrush had to come to an emergency stop during the series of fights.
"These actions caused serious inconvenience to Hersheypark staff and patrons of the park. This caused an emergency stop to the Skyrush ride," officers said in court records viewed by the New York Post.
All combatants involved in the widespread melee face potential misdemeanor and felony offenses.
Several Teens Arrested in Hersheypark Brawl
Derry Township police wrote in an affidavit of probable cause charging Quaneek Williams, 18, with riot, a felony, and other charges.
Fifty-two of the defendants are minors and have not been publicly named.
Two other adults, Omar Ibrahim, 19, of Harrisburg, and Jerome Ross III, 18, of Steelton, were charged with theft.
Police officers from multiple branches were sent to diffuse the intense brawl.
Officers from Hummelstown, Swatara Township, Lower Swatara Township, Western Lebanon County, North Londonderry Township, as well as the Pennsylvania State Police, responded to the scene.
Officials said two different groups, "Group A and Group B," were caught on security footage arguing in one section of the park. The feud quickly escalated into a full-blown melee roughly an hour before closing time.
Preliminary hearings for Williams, Ibrahim and Ross are scheduled for July 7. Online court records show the charges were sent via summons. None of them are in custody as of Tuesday.
Oddly, the fight at Hersheypark marks the second wide-scale brawl at an amusement park this year.
In April, roughly 100 visitors were involved in a brawl at Six Flags, leading to multiple arrests.
