Miranda Lambert and Kacey Musgraves Have Apparently Banished Their Bad Blood

Feuds between country music stars are as common as tumbleweed. The epic battle between Zach Bryan and Gavin Adcock is one of the most fierce. Then there is the one involving Kacey Musgraves and Miranda Lambert. It's apparently been going on for quite a while. However, the two recently performed together and that seemed to mend their rift. They also recorded a duet, "Horses and Divorces," on Musgraves' new album, Middle of Nowhere.

Musgraves Talked About the Basis of Their Feud

Two months ago, Kacey Musgraves told NPR what kicked off her wrangle with Miranda Lambert. It sounds like a misunderstanding and miscommunication became a forest fire. Musgraves shared. "There was all this excitement behind 'Mama's Broken Heart' for me. It was gonna be my first single and I loved the song so much. I had been a staff writer for years at that point, writing for other people and had finally felt like I was collecting songs that felt like me that I didn't wanna pitch to anyone else."

But events took a very different and consequential turn. She added, "Then, the song gets pitched to [Lambert] without my consent or knowledge. It was a tricky situation. She ended up loving the song and she really wanted it. And I had other co-writers to consider." Musgraves was a co-writer on the track, with Shane McAnally and Brandy Lynn Clark.

Lambert recorded "Mama's Broken Heart" on her 2011 album Four the Record.

They Took the Stage Together in Their Home State of Texas

Miranda Lambert was a guest on The Highway with Cody Alan on Sirius XM on May 15. She described how freeing it was to at last put her bad blood with Kacey Musgraves in the past. Musgraves had some concerts slated at Gruene Hall in New Braunfels. She asked Lambert to hop on the stage as a surprise for the audience.

"The House That Built Me" singer said, "Honestly, it was very electric. I've been going to Gruene Hall my entire life. Honestly, the roof came off the place. It was really healing, honestly. It was good to be back with an East Texas sister and whatever b------t was around is gone, you know what I mean? We have kindred spirits."

Lambert also mentioned, "I got to see her family that night that I've known forever. Kacey and I grew up together pretty much, we've been singing together, knowing each other since she was like 10 and I was 14. So it's good to rekindle that sort of flame that brought us together in the first place."
