Riley Green Speaks Out After Being Injured by Thrown Phone on Stage

Riley Green was hit by a fan's flung phone in the midst of a concert the other day. He sustained a minor injury, but took it in stride.

Country music concerts can get a bit rambunctious. Fans can become somewhat rowdy at times. They can even throw objects at performers. That is what happened to Riley Green a few days ago. The unfortunate incident occurred in Melbourne, Australia at the Margaret Court Arena on Saturday, March 14. Per People, the singer sustained a cut on his ear. Like a real pro, Green managed to shrug it off and even find some humor in it as well. He commented on the nasty mishap on TODAY Australia.

At the moment it happened, Riley Green reportedly exclaimed in surprise, "Damn, am I bleeding? Y'all see how tough I am?" Yep, he sure is!

Green Wryly Joshed About Being Hit

Host Sarah Abo said to Riley Green, "But you did have a bit of an altercation. I can see the stitches in your ear..." He replied, "Yeah. I didn't get my ear pierced. That was a cell phone at a show the other day." He added, "I wasn't quick enough, I guess."

With a trouper's "the show must go on attitude," Green explained, "I've played, you know, 100 plus shows a year for 12 to 15 years, and that's the first thing like this has happened. You can't let one person ruin the night for everybody, you know."

What Happened to the Culprit?

Co-host Karl Stefanovic asked with concern, "No, but that's just that is not cool. Did they get the person? Did they... do you know anything?"

Green said, "I feel like they did. I think they got thrown out, and I looked cool. There's blood going down my face during the show." The culprit was reportedly led out of the arena.

He Is Touring Now

Per the star's web site, he has a very busy touring schedule. Green's Cowboy As It Gets tour keeps him in Australia for a concert on March 20, followed by shows in Florida, Mississippi, Kentucky, Tennessee, California, Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, and elsewhere.

Riley Green's popularity with fans has skyrocketed since his wildly successful duet with Ella Langley, "You Look Like You Love Me." Let's hope that Green stays safe for the rest of his tour!
