Sturgill Simpson Joins Guns N' Roses' 'Not In This Lifetime Tour'

Sturgill Simpson has just added a new leg of tour dates opening for rock and roll group Guns N' Roses later this year.

After he wraps up a few outdoor and festival gigs in June and July, he'll begin a stint as support for the band in Colorado, Arkansas and Florida. These shows will make Sturgill's only stadium shows for 2017 so far.

It's an interesting choice for Guns N' Roses, who recruited an eclectic mix of openers for the tour, including rockers ZZ Top and Our Lady Peace. Simpson's latest record, A Sailor's Guide to Earth, is much more rooted in experimental rock than twangy traditional country.
