Zac Brown Auctions Rare Custom Guitars for Charity

Zac Brown is known for having a heart as big as his voice, so it’s no surprise the singer just announced a live auction of rare guitars benefiting disadvantaged children.

The auction features five one-of-a-kind Zac Brown Band Signature Taylor acoustic guitars, all of which were played by Brown on his 2015 North American Stadium Tour. It’s already cool to have a guitar played by Brown, but what makes them extra cool? Each guitar has been decorated by five visual artists handpicked by beverage company Bai.

Each guitar features a custom design by a notable visual artist.

Each guitar comes with a certificate of authenticity and a hard shell case, as well as information about the artist who designed it and when and where it was first played by Zac Brown on the stadium tour. The actual guitar is Brown’s unique take on a nylon string guitar with the features of traditional steel string acoustics, including the cutaway and pickup.

The coolest part of it all is that all of the proceeds go towards Brown’s nonprofit organization, Camp Southern Ground. Inspired by Brown’s time as a camp counselor and currently in the development stages, Camp Southern Ground “gives children with academic, social and emotional difficulties the chance to learn life skills and team work in a positive, healthy and organic environment.” It will “serve children from all backgrounds, races and religions, with a special focus on those young people with neurobehavioral needs, at-risk populations, and children from military families. Camp Southern Ground will create “Unforgettable Outdoor Experiences for Children of All Abilities.”

Brown has tapped many resources to help bring the camp to fruition, and the guitar auction is another in a line of unique and inspiring methods to help give children a safe place to grow and develop. The artists chosen to design the guitars are Christina Angelina, Casey Ryder, Seth Chwast, Defer and Mark Dean Veca.

The auction is currently taking place on eBay, and will run through Feb. 11. All of the guitars start at $3,000 and, considering how special they are and the cause they support, are sure to fetch quite a bit more than that. Be sure to click on each guitar to read more about it and check out the video about each artist, like this one on Mark Dean Veca.
