Trying to decide on where to stay for your next vacation can be tough. Sometimes it's hard to find something functional that also gives you a unique and scenic environment to enjoy.
If one of a kind accommodations are what you're looking for, the Izaak Walton Inn in Essex, Montana may just be your new dream vacation destination. Visitors can opt to stay in one of their choice of nine beautifully renovated train cabooses. The train cars are spread across the inn's property and offer a unique and fun lodging experience that is hard to beat.
Multiple train cabooses of different colors and types are located on the property and have been converted into cozy living quarters. Although the outside of the cars have also been sufficiently cleaned up, you won't believe what the inside of each car looks like.
The inside of these train cars feel like a luxury hotel room and are surprisingly spacious. Each car has its own unique design that feels upscale and homey at the same time. This GN 441 Locomotive car even offers a view of the still-operating trains that pass through the mountain terrain.
The Izaak Walton Inn was built in 1939 and opened its first renovated train quarters in the 1980's. According to Today, each caboose was bought individually, transported by train to the Inn and then craned into place.
This GN X215 caboose seen above is decorated from top to bottom with reclaimed wood and feels like a modern yet rustic cabin. Each car has been designed with custom cabinets and furniture that keeps the space functional without feeling cramped.
