New Jason Aldean single "You Make It Easy" finds the popular singer bearing his heart for his most introspective song to date. It's the first track from Aldean's forthcoming album Rearview Town.
The lyrics come across as a tribute to Aldean's better half, Brittany Kerr. The couple married in 2015 and welcomed their first child together, a son named Memphis, to the family back in December. Per a recent interview, Aldean got the song from the guys in Florida Georgia Line.
Waxing sentimentally works well for the current crop of mainstream country singers. Such artists at Thomas Rhett excel when trying to be more of a poet than a pop star, and the same rule applies here to Aldean. It's one of many potent counter-punches to claims that today's big stars only rap about unnamed women and pickup trucks.
Rearview Town arrives on April 13. It'll be Aldean's eighth studio album and his first since 2016's They Don't Know. He hits the road soon after its release for this summer's High Noon Neon Tour.
"You Make It Easy" Lyrics
Like a rainy Sunday morning makes me want to stay in bed
Twisted up all day long
You're my inspiration, girl you take me places
Put the words right into these songs
Stealing kisses under cover, babe
See forever when I see your face
And I swear God made you for me
You make it easy
Lovin' up on you
Make it easy
With every little thing you do
You're my sunshine in the darkest days
My better half, my saving grace
You make me who I wanna be
You make it easy
You took all my rough around the edges
Never let it ruffle up your feathers, angel
Yeah I'm down for life, you got me wrapped around your finger
And I like it just in case you can't tell
You make it easy
Lovin' up on you
Make it easy
With every little thing you do
You're my sunshine in the darkest days
My better half, my saving grace
You make me who I wanna be
You make it easy
Stealing kisses under cover, babe
See forever when I see your face
And I swear God made you for me
[CHORUS]
