Yoko Ono tuns 92 today. When I heard that, I was shocked. It seems like just yesterday that she was mourning the death of her husband, ex-Beatle John Lennon. He was gunned down in 1980 by an assassin at the famed Dakota apartment building where he lived with Ono in New York City. Prior to that, she was villainized by loyal Beatles fans who blamed her for the band's breakup. With the passage of so much time, I believe that harsh, judgmental opinions of Ono have softened and become far more compassionate. She has stayed largely out of the limelight since Lennon's tragic passing. What is she doing these days?

Yoko Ono Left New York City And Lives On A Farm
Per dailymail.co.uk, Ono exited the Big Apple two years ago at age 90. She exchanged the hustle and bustle of urban life for a more serene existence on a 600-acre farm close to Franklin, New York. Ono bought the farm with Lennon for a reported price of $178,000 back in 1978, two years before his murder. (The couple wed in 1969.) She previously resided in Manhattan for half a century. The outlet stated that Ono intended to live on the farm "full-time," and was not thought to be coming back to the Dakota.
She Reportedly Has Had Health Issues
According to the outlet, "It has been reported that she requires 'round the clock' medical care and at an event in 2017, which she attended in a wheelchair, she remarked from the stage: 'I have learned so much from having this illness.'" The nature of the illness she referred to is not clear.
Ono has apparently lived a very private life at the Dakota in recent years. She has infrequently emerged in public to make appearances.
Yoko Ono Reportedly Enjoyed A Gala Celebration Of Her 90th Birthday With Family And Friends Two Years Ago
There was a small get-together at Ono's farm to mark her birthday in 2023. Among those reported to be present were her son with Lennon, Sean, his girlfriend, and publicist Elliot Mintz. He has been a pal of hers for many years. Mintz observed on Instagram at the time that "The room was filled with flowers, laughter, music, great food, and loving exchanges."
Ono Turned Over Her Business Interests to Her Son, Sean
She stepped back from the management of her business interests and delegated that responsibility to her son, Sean, in November 2020. He is now 49 years old. Chief among those interests is dealing with John Lennon's massive fortune. It is thought to be valued at $800 million.
