Jefferson White, best known for playing Jimmy Hurdstrom in Yellowstone, will appear in the sophomore season of Marshals, CBS announced on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
His return is not just a one-off, either. The 38-year-old actor will return in a recurring role when Season 2 kicks off Oct. 4.
"I'm thrilled to dive into the world of Marshals and continue exploring the American West," White said in a statement. "The cast and crew are stacked full of my favorite actors and filmmakers, and I'm honored to join them."
White joins a star-studded Marshals cast that also includes Country star Luke Grimes as protagonist Kayce Dutton.
For White, playing Jimmy Hurdstrom comes naturally.
"Jimmy and I have been through a lot together," the actor said. "I can't wait to see what's next for us."
Jimmy, a former petty criminal turned devoted ranch hand and cowboy, is one of the series most complex and beloved characters. He was written out of Yellowstone in Season 4 after Jimmy moved to the Four Sixes Ranch in Texas and returned in the final season.
Luke Grimes Praises Return of Jefferson White
Grimes expressed excitement about adding Jimmy to Marshals during a press event.
"Very simply, we're just trying to make the best show that we can," Grimes tells TV Insider of Jimmy's return. "Spencer and I have a lot of conversations about how to do that and try to come up with ideas for story. And ideas that we feel like our audience would really enjoy. Through those conversations, Jimmy came up. It's just a character that I think everybody loved so much."
"There are characters in Yellowstone you either love or hate or whatever. But I think universally everyone loved Jimmy, and personally, I just really liked working with Jefferson," Grimes continued. "He's a great guy. Great to be around, good energy, great actor. And so it was just born out of, how do we delight our audience a little bit more this season and bring somebody back that everyone sort of misses?"
Marshals Season 2 premieres Oct. 4 on Paramount+.
