Wynonna Judd Named ‘The Voice’ Season 24's Mega Mentor

Wynonna Judd's going to be working closely with her Tennessee neighbor, Reba McEntire.

A fellow Country Music Hall of Famer will fill a role held last year on The Voice by current coach Reba McEntire. The NBC series announced on Tuesday (Oct. 31) that this season's mega mentor will be none other than Wynonna Judd. Beginning on Nov. 6, Judd will serve as a cross-team advisor for contestants during the knockouts round.

The network highlighted Judd's Sept. 28 acceptance speech for the People's Choice Country Awards' first-ever Country Champion Award as an example of the type of advice she can bestow to up-and-coming singers.

"It's getting harder and harder out there," Judd said during the broadcast. "Never give up on your dreams. For half of you in this place tonight, I know you don't know who I am or you were not born when I had my years of being fabulous, and I'll let that go. But back in 1990, blah blah blah, Tim McGraw opened for me. Four weeks ago, I opened for Tim. The highs are high and the lows are low, baby, but don't ever let them tell you who you are. Good night."

McEntire shared an Instagram video of her and Judd in which both react to the news.

"I love her being on The Voice," McEntire said. "We're neighbors in Tennessee and we have to get out here in LA to see each other."

After both marveled that they've yet to appear on a singing competition series together, Judd added that "one of the reasons I decided to do this show [is] because you're here and I wanted to work with you."

It won't be Judd's only upcoming primetime appearance on NBC. She'll host Christmas at the Opry on Dec. 7. Advertised performers include Chrissy Metz and Kelly Clarkson.
