It's been less than a week since Wynonna Judd released her latest song, "Girl Who Could Sing," and people are already loving it. The country star clearly dug deep on this one, pulling from painful experience and leaving it all on the track.

The song is so powerful that some fans believe they can hear her crying on the recording. Turns out, those fans might be right. During a recent interview with Taste of Country, Judd revealed that she recorded the song as a 'performance vocal.' The decision was made so that the raw emotion in her voice could be perfectly captured.
"I wanted it to be so real that there are tears on some of the lines," Judd said. "It was devastating, but it was also exhilarating at the same time, because I knew I was telling my truth."
The song, which is featured on Judd's latest album, 'The Hard Truth,' is about when she learned that her biological father wasn't Michael Ciminella. She was 30 at the time of finding out that information. As you can imagine, that sort of news can shake your entire life. To this day, Judd has never met her biological dad, as he died just weeks before she was due to meet him for the first time.
Wynonna Judd Recalls Learning of Her Biological Dad's Death
When speaking with Taste of Country, Judd recalled the ordeal of learning her biological father had passed away.
"When they found him — it was a week later, unfortunately, because he was such a hermit — he was sitting on the couch with his groceries on either side of him," Judd recalled. "They went to looking around and they found a drawer in his desk full of newspaper clippings."
The old saying is that if you sing about what you know and what you feel, it will resonate with people. While that might be true, it can oftentimes bring up painful memories, making it hard to get through the recording process. Judd clearly went through the wringer when recording "Girl Who Could Sing."
"It almost killed me, I'll be honest," she admits. "I almost died of a broken heart. I was so, so devastated."
Nevertheless, the song has been well received. It has also given her fans a deeper look into her life. Sometimes, that connection can make a huge difference. And who knows? Maybe the song can help others who have been through similar situations in their lives, too.
