Bill Dundee has sadly passed away at the age of 82. He's best known for his time on the American professional wrestling circuit, especially during the 80s and 90s.

News of Dundee's death became public when his son, Jamie Dundee, made the announcement on Sunday, August 6, via social media.
"With a heavy heart, it hurts me to have to say this," Jamie wrote on Facebook, via TMZ. "At 3:30 this morning, the Superstar Bill Dundee has passed away...I love you, Dad. I'll catch you on the other side...Rest in peace, superstar. Love Bill's boy."
Dundee first made his wrestling debut in 1962, when he was competing in Australia. However, he made the move to the United States in 1974 and never looked back. During the early part of his career, "Superstar" Bill Dundee worked for the Continental Wrestling Association (CWA). He spent a large portion of his time with the company teaming up with other wrestling greats such as Jerry 'The King' Lawler, Jimmy Valiant, and others.
During his tenure with the CWA, Dundee helped the Southern Heavyweight Championship on multiple occasions. However, during that time period, wrestlers often moved around, as the scene wasn't dominated by a handful of companies like it is today.
Bill Dundee Had Runs With Multiple Other Companies
Outside of CWA, Dundee worked with the American Wrestling Association (AWA) during the mid-to-late eighties. Once again, he found himself working alongside Lawler, with the duo winning tag team gold on two separate occasions.
Around the same time, Dundee was working with Jim Crockett in the NWA territories. Nevertheless, it was in the 90s, when Dundee signed with Ted Turner's World Championship Wrestling, that he began earning a global audience.
During his time with WCW, Dundee worked as 'Sir William,' the on-screen manager for fellow wrestling legend William Regal. As this was later in Dundee's career, he was also given opportunities to work on booking matches and to have a say behind the scenes.
Dundee eventually moved to the United States Wrestling Association, which had taken over for the CWA. He worked there for the remainder of his career.
Modern-day wrestling is dominated by WWE and AEW. Hardcore fans also tune in to New Japan Pro Wrestling and Total Nonstop Action (TNA). However, in Dundee's era, wrestling was far more territorial and way less popular on the global level. Still, he somehow managed to carve out a legendary career that saw him have a tremendous influence on the sport.
He will be missed by wrestlers and fans alike.
