On Saturday, September 28, Steve Borden endured a night to forget. Competing in his first pay-per-view bout, the son of legendary wrestler Sting was brutally knocked unconscious. The incident occurred during AEW's "All Out," when Borden and Kevin Knight looked to attack each other off opposing turnbuckles.
The spot was supposed to be a jaw-dropping mid-air collision between the two wrestlers. Hard-hitting and highly athletic, the move was undoubtedly a key spot in the match. Unfortunately, once Borden and Knight were airborne, things went wrong.

AEW's medical team quickly made their way to the ring, treating Borden before removing him and rushing him to medical attention. Due to the incident, the tag team of the 'Protostar' Kyle Fletcher and Kevin 'The Jet' Knight were declared winners, becoming the number one contenders for the tag team titles as a result.
Borden's injury is a brutal twist of fate. He's been impressive since stepping into AEW's roster and following in his father's footsteps. However, due to his athleticism, it's been far too easy to forget how new he is to the sport and the risks that come with that.
AEW Has Since Given an Encouraging Update on Steve Borden
Later in the show, Tony Schiavone provided an update on Borden's status.
"I know that we are all concerned about the condition of Steven Borden, and Tony Khan is giving me some information I think is very important to give to you," Schiavone said, via POST Wrestling. "Steve Borden is conscious. He's responsive, he's arrived at the hospital, and he's going to be evaluated."
Not long after that initial update, Schiavone again gave fans more details regarding Borden's status.
"He has been talking to the doctors about the match," Schiavone said. "Of course, our thoughts are with him. He has had a CAT scan, but the good news once again is he's responsive, he's conscious, he's talking about the match, he's concerned about what happened."
Hopefully, Borden makes a full recovery. For now, though, we shouldn't expect to see him on AEW programming in the near future.
