Shakira says her hips don't lie, but they still left some World Cup viewers confused.

As you may know, the weeks-long soccer (sorry, football) tournament kicked off yesterday, June 11, in Mexico City. The opening ceremony included performances by J Balvin, Maná, and Lila Downs.
The "Whenever, Wherever" singer performed the tournament anthem, "Dai Dai," in dark shades, white shorts, and a yellow mesh top. But was it actually her? Fans seem convinced that Shakira used a double for the performance.
Shakira, or Not Shakira? That Is the Question
The conspiracy theory began on X. One user posted a clip of Shakira's performance with the following caption:
"That's not Shakira. Watch how she messes up the step when she sings Dai Dai... That's a double. Shakira lied to everyone."

Others on the social media platform followed suit, saying "it was clear that it wasn't her."
"Legs totally different, much thinner, and her face," they added. "Even the hair."
Said another user, "For some reason she used a body double, why, I don't know."
Someone else wrote, "This person is NOT @shakira."
The captions got more hilarious from there. One user wrote, "They slipped us the Temu Shakira!"
Blame It On the Botox
Other users didn't buy into the body double theory. Fans used the small scar on Shakira's forehead as proof that she was actually on stage. They added that the only lie the singer told was how much Botox she used.
"She just got Botox and hasn't deswollen, also why would they put the exact same scar that shakira has on the 'impersonators' forhead," one user wrote.
Another added, "Shakira's been in Mexico for days rehearsing, but apparently one random tweet is enough to convince some of you that it wasn't her. The level of stupidity is actually impressive."
Another commenter wrote, "A last-minute body double who learned the full choreography, synced moves, and even the forehead mark in 30 minutes? Come on... Shakira's almost 50, stadium lights, fresh Botox and sunglasses in Azteca's sun is classic Shakira hips don't lie energy."
So was it Shakira, or was it someone else? We may never know.
