The Three Lions secured a thrilling 3-2 win at the Estadio Azteca on Sunday to book their place in the quarterfinals.

As England's players celebrated with supporters by singing Oasis classic "Wonderwall," television cameras captured the moment Henderson suffered the unfortunate injury.

After celebrating with fans, several England players climbed over the advertising boards to applaud the traveling supporters, including defender Dan Burn.

Moments later, Henderson attempted to follow but fell awkwardly, landing heavily on his arm before requiring medical attention.

The 36-year-old was eventually stretchered off the field.

England captain Harry Kane was conducting a post-match interview when the incident unfolded.

"Jordan Hendo just fell over there. I think he's OK," Kane said.

England manager Thomas Tuchel later confirmed Henderson had been taken to hospital with what he described as a "serious" wrist injury.

"He injured his wrist, he is at the moment in the hospital," Tuchel said. "It is a quite serious injury.

"It just doesn't fit to the evening that Jordan is now not with us. I don't know the procedure which is going on. I just did the [media duties] and the doc told me he's in the hospital."

Henderson Remains in Mexico After Injury

According to reports, Henderson remained in Mexico City overnight with a member of England's backroom staff. This was while the rest of the squad returned to their training base in Kansas City, Missouri.

Although Henderson was an unused substitute against Mexico, he was shown a yellow card during the closing stages of the match.

Earlier in the tournament, Henderson became the first England men's player to appear at four FIFA World Cups. He came off the bench against Panama in the team's final group-stage match.

England will now face Norway in the World Cup quarterfinals. Goals from Jude Bellingham and a Harry Kane penalty sealed the victory over Mexico.

The Three Lions played much of the second half with 10 men after Jarell Quansah was sent off. However, they held firm during the closing stages to secure a memorable win.
