Catfishing might be something you first heard of when watching MTV. However, it's very much a real issue and impacts countless people every year. Unfortunately for Shemar Moore, he encountered a woman who had been catfished.

The woman had turned up at his Los Angeles home. Police were called to the S.W.A.T. actor's house on Friday, July 31, around 3:30 pm local time.
The woman had arrived at his home with her luggage bags. According to a source who spoke with TMZ, the woman was greeted at the door by Shemar's partner, Jesiree Dizon. Upon opening the door, Jesiree asked her to leave.
"Turns out, the woman says she wasn't there to cause harm ... our sources say she explained she'd been catfished by someone pretending to be Shemar," TMZ wrote. "We're told she said she traveled from outside the state because the faux Shemar Moore told her he would let her live with him. Our sources say she was 'easily duped.'"
Fortunately for the catfished woman, Jesiree informed the authorities that she didn't want to press charges. That led the police to let her go. Currently, there is no further information regarding the incident. Nevertheless, it's another lesson in why you can't trust anyone you meet on the internet.
Shemar Moore Is Gearing Up To Reprise a Familiar Role
Despite the incident, Shemar Moore's focus is likely elsewhere. He's gearing up for the release of S.W.A.T. Exiles season one.
The spin-off show will still feature Shemar in his role of Hondo; however, he will be leading a new team. S.W.A.T. fans have been waiting patiently for the new show after CBS canceled the original show ahead of its ninth season in March 2025.
So, while Hondo will remain the same, and the spin-off takes place in the same universe, there will surely be a lot of new faces and new lore to learn.
Given Shemar's recent experience, perhaps his new show can do an episode focused on catfishing. If nothing else, at least it would spread awareness that it's still going on and is very much a real online issue around the world.
