A 67-year-old Georgia woman and mother-of-four, Shirley Obert, went missing on Saturday, March 29, after she was involved in a car accident. A day later, on Sunday, March 30, her body was found at the bottom of a well. It is believed that she fell down the well while looking for help after surviving and escaping the accident.

According to the Daily Mail, Obert, who was also a Chick-fil-A employee, was involved in a car accident in Monroe County. She went missing at the time, with her family searching for her and asking for help in finding her. At the time, she was wearing a red shirt and black pants, a Chick-fil-A uniform as per police.
However, tragedy struck just a day later. Her lifeless body was found at the bottom of a well that was covered with "thick brush."
"Mrs. Obert appeared to have been trying to go for help when this incident occurred. This appears to be a tragic accident," the
Monroe County Sheriff's Office wrote on Sunday. "Please keep her family and her co-workers in your thoughts and prayers."When prompted, the sheriff's office shared a similar statement with the Daily Mail. "The well was covered under thick brush and would not have been noticeable," the statement reads. "We do not know exactly how she ended up in the wooded area, where her car was found. Our fatality Investigator is working on trying to piece everything together. We may never know exactly."
The sheriff's office that that is was possible that Shirley Obert might have "looked down" or "swerved" to avoid colliding with an animal. According to them, their "best guess" is that, while attempting to get out of the woods, she unknowingly stepped into the well.

Obert's family members were left heartbroken after the news of her tragic death was confirmed by authorities. Her sister-in-law, Tanya Obert Pinson,
posted on Facebook, asking for prayers for Obert's family."We lost my sister n love, my brother lost his soulmate, she believed in the Lord, loved him with her whole being," Pinson wrote. "Pray [for] my brother Mike Obert and their children, family and friends!!"
Obert's longtime friend, Vanessa Awtry, said that she was fortunate to know and be loved by Shirley Obert.
"She always gave the best, tightest hugs that felt like they could fix whatever was wrong with your day," Awtry
wrote. "I'll miss our run ins in town and will forever miss those 'get together' plans we discussed but life never allowed time for."A GoFundMe was set up on Obert's family's behalf that will help cover their expenses in these difficult times. She was the family's sole provider and did not have any life insurance. As per the GoFundMe, Shirley is survived by her husband, daughter, and four sons.
