According to the Tampa Bay Times, the unidentified woman was driving down the Dale Mabry highway, near Idlewild Avenue. It was almost 10:30 pm, and per WFLA, she was returning from a birthday dinner.

The woman was on her way home when she saw a dog in distress. The nature of the situation is unclear, but reportedly the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said she pulled up to get out of her car to help a dog. The dog was likely injured and struggling to provoke such a response.

As the woman left her car to help the dog, a 69-year-old man in his Toyota RAV 4 hit both the woman and the dog. The collision was fatal, and they were both pronounced dead on the scene.

Authorities have kept identities under wraps, and the situation is still being investigated.

No further details about the event or people involved have been divulged. The man's legal standings are also currently unknown. Considering the late hour, the incident was likely a freak accident. It is unknown if there will be more public updates on the situation.

Another Crash For This Mad March

We're barely three weeks into March, and it feels like we've been reporting on an absurd number of car crashes.

This tragic incident adds to the pile of freak and tragic road accidents we've experienced this month. I understand that car crashes happen all of the time, and we certainly don't report on all the crashes that occur, but there is still a worrying upward trend of notable car crashes.

It feels like a day hasn't gone by when we haven't produced a story about people being killed or seriously injured in a car crash. Which is a serious problem considering the site's heart is with country music.

I just hope the constant serious crashes will die down. Alongside the plane crashes, there is far too much devastation going on right now.

Please stay safe and vigilant when you drive.
