Backstory Of Madeleine McCann And Woman Who Claims To Be The Toddler Missing For 18 Years
Madeleine McCann was just three-years-old when she went missing. BBC News shares that she was "on holiday with her family at the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz, Portugal." She and her younger siblings were left in the hotel room while her parents went to a restaurant in the complex.
Apparently the adults had devised a rotation system to continuously check on the children throughout the evening. However, upon Kate McCann returning to the room, she discovered that Madeleine was missing. Despite police being called and hundreds of volunteers joining in, the toddler was never found.
Search efforts continued on and off throughout the years. However, after a while police suspected that even if Madeleine was found, she would not be found alive. Although they released photos around 2009 of what she may look like now, they argued that they believe she was stalked by a predator days before her disappearance.
Madeleine's parents grew increasingly frustrated over the fact that neither the UK or Portugal police were still looking for their daughter. It made matters worse that "In March 2010, the McCanns criticize the release of previously unseen Portuguese police files - detailing possible sightings of Madeleine - to British newspapers."
In 2013 they discovered new persons of interest. Also, they apparently had found new witnesses, but none of it brought Madeleine home.
Madeleine McCann Or Julia Wendell: Uncovering The Truth

In 2023 the world got the shock of their lives when a Polish woman took to social media claiming to be Madeleine McCann. The woman claims to be the toddler who has been missing for 18 years. Now, she is willing to get the evidence to prove it.
23-year-old Julia Wandelt has released her latest set of DNA test results. She did this in an attempt to prove that she is the long-lost Madeleine McCann. Back in 2023 she had begun posting under the Instagram account "@IAmMadeleineMcCann." However, rather than getting an outpouring of love and concern, she received hate and death threats.
Later, she ended up on the talk show Dr. Phil. There, she discussed the possibility that this woman really was the missing toddler. Howeve,r Daily Mail shared that she later admitted that she regretted the decision. Now, she shares all her information regarding the case under her new social media account "@AmIJuliaWandelt."
Despite the backlash and hate, Julia still believes she is Madeleine. Now, some new evidence has been revealed that shows the idea may not be as far-fetched as people once believed. Although past DNA results proved that Julia was fully Polish, these new results say something different. According to a post shared on Julia's social media, the woman who conducted her first DNA test results was "sometimes a private investigator with a fake badge." The new results were supported by experts and show that her DNA is actually "part British and part Irish."
The Evidence Is Mounting But What Does It Mean?

Furthermore, Ms. Wandelt's eyes, teeth, and voice were compared to the missing toddlers. Regarding her voice, the evidence showed strong similarities. It stated, "Based on the analysis of pitch, loudness, and spectral centroid, the two voices likely belong to the same person."
Similarly, Ms. Wandelt posted the results from the teeth comparison as well. According to her post, "After analyzing the detailed characteristics both inside and outside the mouth, all photos undeniably belong to the same person."
Furthermore, Ms. Wandelt's DNA was compared to the DNA found at the crime scene of Madeleine McCann's disappearance. Apparently the "results were analyzed and interpreted by a highly respected and recognized world expert, Dr. Monte Miller. Ph.D., Biochemistry obtained at Loma Lina University." Dr. Monte Miller wrote this under the DNA results.
"The simple answer is that the suspect is not the source of the DNA on the evidence, because their DNA is not fully established EVERYWHERE. However, they do match fairly well, more than I would expect at random and a specific pattern emerges that look like an almost certain family connection. I would look for a parent, child, or sibling."
From there, the third part of Ms. Wandelt's DNA results claims that "The proportion of the loci shared between the two profiles is consistent with a parent-child relationship." It continues, "The genetic evidence strongly supports that McCann would be Julia Wandelt's biological father, as the data aligns perfectly with a parent-child relationship."
Doubtful Despite The Evidence
Despite the seemingly mounting pile of evidence, many remain doubtful that this woman who claims to be the missing toddler is actually Madeleine. Both Gerry and Kate McCann refuse to take a DNA test to confirm or deny is they are the biological parents of Ms. Wandelt.
Furthermore, Ms. Wandelt's family also speaks out against some of the allegations against them. Julia had claimed that she had never seen photos of herself in her early years, but her family quickly provided evidence on the contrary. The Daily Mail shares that a family member stated, "'For us as a family it is obvious that Julia is our daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and step-niece. We have memories, we have pictures."
While many online support Julia and her continuous posts and newfound evidence, many people remain skeptical. Here are some comments of those who doubt her, left under various social media posts.
"Girl you could have typed this yourself, why should we believe this?"
"No credibility in this at all. How could any respected medical compare milk teeth to adult teeth? Maddiie was 3 when last seen and had milk teeth."
"I think you're abit unhinged. None of the early childhood photos you post look similar & using chatGPT to say it could be the same person is useless"
"Absolutely none of these posts are proof of anything ?????"
