Footage from the fateful night shows Adan Manzano heading back to his hotel room with Danette Colbert. She is already known to the police, and has been dubbed the 'Bourbon Street Hustler.' Shortly after entering his apartment, she left.
The next morning Adan Manzano was reported missing and found dead in his room. The exact cause of death has not yet been determined. However, a toxicology report has found high levels of Benzodiazepine in his blood. This, mixed with alcohol, can make a person black out.
Manzano was found face down on the bed, implying that he may have been asphyxiated. Now, Danette Colbert, along with her alleged accomplice Rick White have been charged with the murder and robbery of the Super Bowl reporter.
Bourbon Street Hustler Allegedly Worked With An Accomplice
After the death of Adan Manzano, Both Colbert and White racked up charges on his credit card. They also had his phone in their possession. Police believe the two of them worked together. They allegedly drugged and killed the Super Bowl reporter before using his card to go on a spending spree.
Kenner police chief Keith Conley told reporters, "We found correspondence and information where [Colbert and White] were going back and forth. We think they were working hand-in-hand, in concert."
This is not the first time Colbert has been connected to drugging and robbing men. She earned her nickname through her repeated thievery. "She's a career criminal ... Ms. Colbert has quite a record and rap sheet for confidence games, access device fraud, and robbery schemes," the police chief said.
The two of them will now face trial on charges of second-degree murder, theft, and others related to the murder and robbery of Adan Manano. The evidence is certainly stacked against them in this case. Footage from the scene and his belongings found on their persons will be key evidence.
