Woman Arrested For Causing House Fire With Person Inside

Authorities arrested a 39-year-old Arizona woman on multiple felony charges following a fatal trailer fire on April 15. The blaze claimed one life, prompting an ongoing investigation into potential homicide charges.

Sierra Vista Police responded to a trailer fire in the 200 block of Jennifer Lane at 4:15 a.m., per KGUN 9 News. Bystanders had already pulled a critically injured person from the burning structure. Emergency crews rushed the victim to Canyon Vista Medical Center, where they later succumbed to their injuries, police said in a

news release.

"The subject who was pulled from the burning building was transported to Canyon Vista Medical Center for critical treatment," the release read. "Meanwhile, officers started evacuating several residences in the immediate area while SVF&MS personnel focused on extinguishing the fire.

"During the initial fire investigation, a female suspect was identified and questioned but not arrested. Later, in the same morning, that same suspect was observed breaking a vehicle windshield on the property and was arrested and charged with criminal damage."

Officers questioned a woman at the scene but did not arrest her initially. Later that morning, authorities identified her as Teresa Anne Campbell. She was arrested for criminal damage after reportedly smashing a vehicle's windshield on the same property.

Woman Charged

The Sierra Vista Fire Marshal, alongside Special Operations Bureau detectives, determined probable cause to charge Campbell with arson of an occupied structure, aggravated assault, and attempted homicide. Following the victim's death,

police announced plans to pursue additional charges, including homicide, against Campbell.

The investigation revealed Campbell's direct connection to the fire, escalating the severity of the charges.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Detective Samuel Brady at (520) 452-7200. The Sierra Vista Police Department emphasized the importance of community cooperation in resolving the case.

Campbell remains in custody as the investigation progresses. Police have not released the victim's identity pending notification of next of kin.
