The incident took place on Wednesday, January 29. According to GMToday, the unidentified boyfriend woke up to some text messages between Brantner and his mother. Both the victim and Brantner disagreed about using their house as a wedding venue, which caused a heated argument.
The man would later tell police that Kailee Brantner returned home early from work. She, allegedly, immediately began attacking him. He would then push her away, causing Brantner to grab a knife from their kitchen. While she would place the knife down, according to the man, she continued to assault him, even tearing his shirt off.
Once the man went to the basement to grab his things, Brantner then followed him. She, however, had re-grabbed the knife. That is when, allegedly, Brantner stabbed her boyfriend multiple times. He fled the basement and Brantner chased him. When the man faced her, Brantner then stabbed him two more times, cutting his neck, according to the man. It was only when the man dropped to his knees that the alleged attack stopped.
Attack Stops, Woman Arrested
Court filings reported by FOX 6 reveal that Brantner would then grab a towel and apply pressure to his wound. She would then wait for police to arrive after her boyfriend reported her. Brantner then told one of the detectives that she didn't want to be accused of feeling the scene. According to GMToday, Brantner also grabbed her daughter and waited for authorities.
According to the case's complaint, the man admitted to striking and probably biting Brantner while defending himself. Brantner also admitted to stabbing her boyfriend in his left arm and neck. The man suffered four injuries in total. These included his left bicep, the right and left side of his chest, and the left side of his neck.
Kailee Brantner has been charged with first-degree reckless injury. She could face up to 25 years in prison, a $100,000 fine, or both, according to Van Wagner & Wood.
