A 27-year-old Wisconsin woman, Keionna McGowan, has been accused of fatally shooting her dentist neighbor after a dispute over loud music being played. Allegedly, the man, identified as Dr. Akintunde Bowden, asked her to turn the music down while intoxicated, according to McGowan.

According to WISN, the incident took place on April 19 at Park Plaza Court in Brown Deer, Wisconsin. While doing her hair, McGowan was listening to music. Suddenly, someone knocked on her door in an "aggressive" manner. Upon checking, McGowan saw a "large man who appeared to be intoxicated," as per a criminal complaint obtained by the outlet.
The man was McGowan's neighbor, Dr. Akintunde Bowden, and he was complaining about McGowan's music being too loud, albeit incoherently, as per McGowan. This made her feel uncomfortable, so she closed the door. Bowden, however, allegedly continued with his request, now resorting to kicking the door.
McGowan decided to retrieve her gun and reopened the door. Allegedly, she told the officers that, after doing so, she fired one shot after the man made a kicking motion. After reports of the shooting were made, responding officers found McGowan without shoes and in a pink dress, running from the building, asking for help. Upon entering her apartment, they found Bowden lying face down with a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy conducted by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office found that the bullet travelled through multiple organs and vertebrae, effectively killing Bowden.
Reactions And Charges
As per WISN, Bowden's fiancée told authorities that Bowden was watching a basketball game during the incident. Previous noise complaints were made about loud music at McGowan's apartment. However, interactions were always kept civil, and Bowden hadn't confronted her in the past.
Keionna McGowan was charged with second-degree reckless homicide with use of a dangerous weapon. She could face up to 30 years in prison if found guilty and receive a $100,000 fine.
Talking lovingly about Dr. Akintunde Bowden, his brothers, Adenji and Ogbonna Bowden, spoke with CBS 58, with Adenji calling the victim the "biggest cheerleader" and "biggest supporter."
"You know, I never thought that the last time I saw my brother would be the last time I saw my brother," Adenji added.
"He really loved his patients, poured into them. Used to have stories," Ogbonna told the outlet. "So he always reached for people that didn't have as much or didn't have what we consider a fair chance."
The brothers, alongside the rest of their family, hope to find justice in connection with their brother's death.
"They don't make people in society with so much compassion and care anymore," Ogbonna added. "Cost him his life, unfortunately. A minor, 'please turn down your music."
