Dom Taylor, the winning chef in the Netflix show Five Star Chef, has died at just 44 years old. His death was announced by the restaurant he founded, The Good Front Room.
The statement reads, "We are deeply saddened to share the news of the sudden passing of our founder, Chef Dom Taylor. Dom was a visionary whose bold, joyful approach to celebrating the Caribbean cuisine of his childhood brought a fresh and exciting voice to London's restaurant scene."
"His passion, talent and generosity touched so many people, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him and experiencing his food."
They added that their thoughts were with all "whose lives he touched."
The restaurant also confirmed that it will remain open in order to "honor Dom's legacy, and continue the work he was so passionate about."
According to Delicious Food, Taylor was the winner of the Netflix show Five Star Kitchen, which ran in 2023. The show also aired via syndication on Channel 4 in the UK.
In an interview with the outlet, he said that in the future, he had wanted to "write books". He added, "An autobiography I've always dreamt of; a cookbook would be fantastic too." However, he said that he was keeping his "options and heart open".

Tributes Have Poured in for the Netflix Show Winner
Chefs and critics alike have mourned the loss of a pioneer chef.
Ravneet Gill, a judge on the Netflix show, said that "He had a real sparkle in his eyes, he was warm kind and incredibly talented." She added that "Dom cooked from the heart, and you could taste it."
Another judge on the Netflix show, Mike Reid, said that "he took Caribbean cuisine somewhere it had never been in [the UK], and he did it his way. He was warm, funny, and completely unpretentious about his talent."
People who knew the chef personally also paid tribute to him. One commenter on an announcement of his passing wrote, "Dom gave me my first ever job/job in the cheffing world and taught me so much. So sad to hear this news and sending lots of love to family, friends, and staff during this heartbreaking time."
