Willie Nelson’s Son Lukas Says Father’s Health Issues ‘Minor’

Concerned Willie Nelson fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Nelson’s son, Lukas, says the illness that caused the country legend to cancel a set of shows with Merle Haggard is not serious.

Lukas shared two Facebook posts in the hours after the announcement of Nelson’s tour date cancellations. The first shows the full Nelson family looking happy and healthy posing for a group picture before they attended a Neil Young concert together.

In his second post, Nelson directly responded to concerned fans. “In other news, thanks for the prayers and love for dad,” Lukas wrote. “His health issue is minor and he’s doing great, love to all.”

On Oct. 14, Nelson cancelled the first date of his Django and Jimmie tour with Merle Haggard, which was scheduled to kick off in Florence, South Carolina. That date, along with two others, have been rescheduled to 2016.

Concern was initially sparked after the cancellation was announced by the staff of the Florence Civic Center, who posted the following statement on their social media accounts. “We’ve been told this is not life-threatening, but will require several weeks to fully recover. We will keep you updated as more information comes to light.”
