Willie Nelson Reminds Us Why He's the G.O.AT, Reaching Out to Ill Fan on Social Media

eLakeland, Florida local (and huge Willie Nelson fan), Shirley Kidd, has been battling brain cancer for the past six months. Due to her diagnosis and health condition, she has been in and out of the hospital since December. Kidd, known as MooMoo to her grandchildren, missed out on Nelson's Tampa area performance at the Florida Strawberry Festival.

Fortunately, Nelson caught wind of her story, originally covered by her local news station, and came to the rescue, responding via social media.

Addressing her affectionately by "Moo Moo," Nelson replied with a video singing her favorite Willie Song: "Amazing Grace." The video's poster added that gifts are on the way. While Kidd wasn't well enough to go see Nelson in concert, we think a personal video shout-out and serenade probably made up for it.

Nelson isn't the only country star who's personally reached out to fans. Taylor Swift is known for similar gestures; Cole Swindell and Blake Shelton have also reached out to fans. But, a personal song from Nelson is (arguably) the most legendary.

At almost 85-years-old, Willie Nelson is still trucking on the road. He's recently been the subject of ongoing online death hoaxes. He amazes us all by continuing to perform. Yes, he's still adding concert dates, like the recently added Farm Aid shows, in 2017.

Again, the GOAT.
