Willie Nelson Met the Muppets, And It’s the Cutest Thing Ever

Willie Nelson has been known to work with all kinds of musical artists, from his former bandmates in The Highwaymen to Norah Jones, Ray Charles and even Snoop Dogg. But the cast of characters he just teamed up with may be the hairiest yet.

Nelson revealed via his Instagram that he recently got to hang out with The Muppets, likely for a cameo appearance on an upcoming episode of The Muppets on ABC.

Nelson is seen here with The Electric Mayhem Band, the cast of crazy musicians responsible for a lot of The Muppets’ music, and Miss Piggy’s house band on her faux late night show, Up Late with Miss Piggy. No word on whether the Red-Headed Stranger performs a musical number with the group, but one can only hope.

The last time it happened, it landed a Grammy nomination.

Nelson’s cover version of the 1979 Muppets classic “Rainbow Connection” was on the 2001 Grammy-nominated album of the same. Let’s hope Nelson’s rumored appearance on the show can create similar magic.

Of course, Willie is no stranger to film and television. He first appeared on the silver screen in 1979 and has made dozens of film and TV appearances since. Nelson also has a role in the upcoming Zoolander 2.
