Merle Haggard has "high" expectations for his new album with Willie Nelson.
With marijuana becoming increasingly legal and far less taboo, who better to sing its anthem than pot-enthusiast Willie Nelson and longtime friend Merle Haggard. "It's All Going To Pot," written by Buddy Cannon, Jamey Johnson and Larry Shell could not have come at a more appropriate time.
The duo's upcoming album, Django & Jimmie, due out June 2nd, will feature new songs and covers of classic songs. "Willie sang like he was a teenager," said Haggard. "It's really good; I think it's the best we've done."
The album will include the pot-progressive song along with 13 other tracks, including a cover of Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right."
To summarize: Merle and Willie will release the new album Django & Jimmie exactly 32 years after "Pancho and Lefty." Say that three times fast, and then watch this video of their new song.
