Video Premiere: Willie Jones' Sweet, Nostalgia-Fueled 'Down For It'

Willie Jones' new song is a sweet and joyous love song, and the video, which Wide Open Country is premiering today, captures the essence of the pop-country gem.

The video for "Down For It" features a couple in love and pays tribute to a classic staple of children's television: Reading Rainbow. Jones says the tune's kind-hearted message and infectious melody immediately brought him back to his youth, a feeling he wanted to capture with the song's video.

"'Down For It' was created earlier this year between writing sessions in Nashville and Los Angeles," Jones tells Wide Open Country. "You can hear the inspirations from both cities. Melodically, the song brought back memories of growing up in the '90s and I saw images of shows like 'Reading Rainbow' in my head. When it was time to make the video,  I thought that paying homage to that show would be something cool and different. For those who remember, it should bring a smile to their face."

Jones is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana who competed on season two of The X Factor. He gained notoriety after performing Josh Turner's "Your Man" during his audition in Greensboro, N.C.

Jones, who's shared the stage with Willie Nelson and the Eli Young Band, is currently working on a full-length debut album. He'll also perform at the 2019 CMA Fest.
