Wife Saved Her Husband from Being Sucked Out of Plane at 20,000ft

She said about the tragic plane incident, "He's not able to communicate... It's important to me that he's alive."

Anyone with a partner knows they'd do practically anything to make sure they're safe and sound. And this is one of those cases.

Serbian national Svetlana Grkovi? has opened up about the horrifying way she had to save her husband after a flight ended in horror. As reported by the New York Post, they were flying from Thessaloniki, Greece to Memmingen, Germany on a Ryanair flight on Friday, July 10.

It was around 30 minutes into the flight when something went wrong. There was an issue with the engine, with footage from the flight showing an engine's protective pod (nacelle) being shattered. An engine blade had apparently snapped off.

And it ended up shattering a window. Plane cabins are usually pressurised so passengers and crew can survive in the air. So if the plane suddenly stops being sealed, it means that the pressure needs to equalize some way.

There's a lot of force involved, and unfortunately for 61-year-old Ljubi?a Karovi?, he was in the way. He was pulled violently toward the window whilst at 20,000 feet in the air.

The Wife Recalled the Horrifying Plane Incident

"The pressure pulled Ljubi?a, luckily he was strapped in, but half of his body was sticking out of the plane," she recalled.

"I reacted immediately and grabbed his legs. I thought, 'if we die, we die together.' It was horrible." She wasn't the only one to hold his legs - thanks to the quick thinking of another flyer, they both managed to keep him in the plane.

Grkovi? also talked of the injuries that her poor husband faced during the whole ordeal. She said that during the incident he had "lost consciousness several times."

"His hand is particularly badly injured and he's got burns," she explained. But that's not the end of the problems - she says "he's not able to communicate, he doesn't remember the whole event."

Other travellers said they saw Karovi? "had blood on his head and kept passing out."

But she said defiantly, "it's important to me that she's alive."

Ryanair said of the incident that a window on the plane had "dislodged in flight" before it was forced to divert back to its origin airport. The incident is still being investigated.

This is an absolutely horrifying incident - we're glad he survived in any case.
