Shia LaBeouf and Mia Goth Married in 2016
As PEOPLE reports, the 32-year-old Goth filed a petition for dissolution of marriage in Los Angeles County on Oct. 6. She cited "irreconcilable differences." She listed the date of her separation from the Transformers actor as July 28, 2025.
Goth is asking for primary legal and physical custody of their child, who was born in 2022. She also requested that the court be unable to award spousal support to either her or LaBeouf.
A source told the outlet earlier this year that the relationship between Goth and the 40-year-old LaBeouf "has always been complicated."
They added, "They weren't getting along and had a lot of drama last year... She loves him, but she also doesn't need him. She's very independent. She has her own life, her own career, and her priority is their daughter."
The two met while filming Nymphomaniac: Vol. II in 2012. They married in Las Vegas in 2016, though officials confirmed the marriage was not legal. The couple announced their divorce in 2018. Two years later, they were seen wearing wedding rings.
The Troubles Keep Mounting for LaBeouf
After last year's split, LaBeouf moved out of the Los Angeles home he shared with Goth and went to New Orleans.
Back in February, LaBeouf was arrested after getting into a fight outside a bar in the French Quarter. Paramedics were brought to the scene of the alleged altercation.
"Multiple people attempted to hold him down—he was eventually let up in hopes that he would leave—but he reportedly again struck the same victim with closed fists to the victim's upper body," authorities described in a statement. "LaBeouf then reportedly assaulted another person—punching him in the nose."
The actor immediately returned to the Mardi Gras celebration after his arrest. He pleaded guilty to three counts of simple battery and was sentenced to two years of probation in June. He also must attend an alcohol treatment program, sensitivity training, and anger management classes.
