How Did the Widow of Kenny Rogers Remember the Late Singer?
Wanda and Kenny were married in 1997 on the singer's ranch in Athens, Georgia. Wanda was obviously thinking about that special day in both their lives when she shared a tribute to him on Instagram. She posted a picture of them at the ceremony.
"Today is the most special day for me: our wedding anniversary," Wanda wrote in the caption. "Even though I can't touch you, I hold you in my heart forever, Kenny... Justin, Jordan, and I miss you so much. Love, Wanda."
She also shared the lyrics of the song Kenny wrote for her, "As God Is My Witness." Kenny penned the ballad with bandmates Warren Hartman and Steve Glassmeyer.
"So hold on to your heart
Now girl, don't you know this felt good from the start
As God is my witness, I promise you
I'll be here beside you
Whatever you do
And as God is my witness
I'll give you all my love"
Wanda Said Kenny Was the "Most Average Guy"
In 2023, Wanda spoke about the kind of husband and father Kenny was to their twin boys, Justin and Jordan.
"You would think Kenny was the most average guy. He was never pretentious, and he sort of taught [the twins] that. He never needed any special attention," she said.
Wanda also shared how she wishes her husband were still with her.
She said, "I miss his love, his support. I miss his touch. I miss everything about him."
Wanda added, "I wish we could have that one last conversation just to say, 'Are you good? Are you okay?'"
However, she explained that Kenny's spirit is never far away.
"With him passing away at home, you don't know how it affects kids," she shared. "And Justin said the next morning, 'Mom, one thing about dad passing away at home...' And I thought, 'Uh-oh.' And he said, 'His sweet spirit will be here forever.' And I was like, 'High five to that. Yes, absolutely it will.'"
