Whoopi Goldberg Calls Out Critics of Dolly Parton's Halftime Look: 'Bite Me'

Whoopi Goldberg's heard enough Dolly Parton slander.

The social media discourse on Thanksgiving found users stuffed with turkey and stuck with kinfolks commenting on Dolly Parton's halftime performance at the Dallas Cowboys' annual holiday home game. In the middle of the Cowboys' 45-10 shellacking of the division rival Washington Commanders, Parton donned one of the iconic Dallas cheerleader uniforms to wow a national viewing audience with "Jolene" and "9 to 5" as well as a cover of Queen's "We are the Champions."

While many praised Parton's wardrobe choice, others accused the country and rock hall of famer of not dressing and acting her age.

On "The View," EGOT winner and co-host Whoopi Goldberg dished out criticisms of her own — for online naysayers, not Parton.

"Apparently, my turkey wasn't the only subject online that people were hating," Goldberg said, referencing the pushback to her preparing her Thanksgiving main course without wearing gloves. "Seventy-seven-year-old superstar Dolly Parton stole the show on Thanksgiving at the Cowboys-Commanders game dressed as a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, but some critics told her to act her age.

"Everybody that participated in this, you should be ashamed of yourself," Goldberg continued, adding that Parton's critics can "bite me."

Co-host Sunny Hostin chimed in with a lighter-hearted take.

"If I looked like that in one of them Cowboys things, I might have everything out. I don't know if that's a belly ring or what, but I want what she has," Hostin said.

On Sunday, Parton's sister Stella took her own swipe at Dolly's detractors via Twitter.

"I personally thought my big sister Dolly was cute as hell in her Dallas Cowboys cheerleading costume at the half time show on Thanksgiving," Stella wrote. "To those of you being so critical of a 77 year old kicking up her heels, I say f**k yourself. Shame on you not her."
