White House Shooting Suspect Had Been Previously Arrested by Secret Service, According To Reports

The alleged perpetrator behind the shooting is 21-year-old Nasire Best. In case you're not aware of what happened, two people were tragically struck as shots rang out near the White House.

According to CNN, the harrowing incident played out as follows. Nasire Best allegedly approached the complex before opening fire. Secret Service agents shot him, and he was later pronounced dead at the hospital. A bystander was also hospitalized with serious injuries.

However, details have emerged of the suspect previously being apprehended by the Secret Service. According to the outlet, he was previously arrested on a misdemeanor unlawful entry charge. In July 2025, he had walked into a restricted area of the White House.

He claimed "he was Jesus Christ" before being arrested. According to the arrest documents, the Secret Service noted they saw him "walking around the White House complex inquiring how to gain access at various entry posts."

Best was banned from going near the White House following his arrest.

President Trump Released a Statement About the White House Shooting Incident

Luckily, no one else other than the two mentioned above was harmed. President Trump was apparently in the White House during the time of the shooting, according to CBS News. He was allegedly negotiating a peace deal with Iran when the shocking incident unfolded.

Trump released a statement on social media following the event. "Thank you to our great Secret Service and Law Enforcement for the swift and professional action taken this evening against a gunman near the White House, who had a violent history and possible obsession with our Country's most cherished structure," he wrote.

He continued, "The gunman is dead after an exchange of gunfire with Secret Service Agents near the White House gates." He went on to mention the White House Correspondents' dinner shooting before mentioning his ballroom as "the most safe and secure space" as a necessity for the protection of "all future Presidents".
