Everyone knows that Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie must be pretty fast friends. After all, they've been judging American Idol since 2018 - that's 6 years of stardom together!
So, of course, you'd expect them to be pretty friendly with each other. And, in typical Luke Bryan fashion, they certainly were - and he cracked a hilarious joke.
In case you missed it, Lionel Richie faced a pretty shocking moment on stage recently. He was performing the opening night of his Sing A Song All Night tour in St. Paul, Minnesota, when tragedy struck.
Richie was performing "Dancing On The Ceiling" when he was forced to take a seat. He said that he felt dizzy, too. Quite quickly, he was ushered off stage and taken to hospital "as a precautionary measure".
But, during a show last weekend at Madison Square Garden, Lionel Richie explained just what his fellow American Idol judge said to him. And it's wonderfully on-brand.
Per Whiskey Riff, the conversation went as follows: "Luke asked one question - 'Lionel, was you drinking?" If that isn't the single most Luke Bryan question I've ever heard...
"I said, 'Hell no I wasn't drinking!'" But, the next response might be even more Luke Bryan coded than the last.
"He said, 'Well then that was the problem, you should have been drinking! That would have cleared everything up!"
Of course, Lionel Richie had to disavow that statement in a sense. "You can't follow that brother. That brother is not well in the head."

Lionel Richie Opened Up Following the Health Scare
Lionel Richie first took to social media earlier this month to address concerns about his health. We reported on when it happened.
He wrote, "Thank you for every message, every kind word, and for all your love. I'm doing well, and I'm grateful for all of you."
He went on to explain how the shows he had performed at following the St. Paul incident were "an absolute joy". He said of the Pittsburgh and Detroit shows, "The energy, the dancing, the faces in the crowd... we made real memories together."
Lionel Richie ended the statement with a wish for the Toronto show to go well, adding, "let's party all night long!"
