For the uninitiated, the Walmart Yodeling Kid video is precisely what you think it is. A young kid named Mason Ramsey delights onlookers in Walmart with a masterfully executed Yodelling song. The video quickly gained traction, and now, over 6 years later, it is sitting on a whopping 89 million views.
By pure chance, a TikTok Interviewer, Daniel Mac, bumped into Ramsey while filming his "What Do You Do For A Living" series.
Mac often approaches people in fancy cars for his series. He walks toward a young driver in a flashy silver Lambo and asks the question. Ramsey, behind the wheel, donning a slick pair of shades, replies, "I sing country music."
After a short conversation, Mac discovers that Ramsay has just turned 18 but started his music career thanks to the viral video we all know and love. When he learns the video is six years old, Mac excitedly exclaims, "Now I feel old, dude, what?!"
From Yodeling In Walmart To A Country Music Star
Ramsay reveals he's roughly halfway through a tour and asks an elated Mac if he wants to hop in for a ride. Mac asks what it was like after the video went viral. Ramsay replies, "I didn't know about it until a week later because I wasn't really exposed to social media as a kid. I didn't grow up on the internet."
Mac brings up an event at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, where Whethan brought Ramsay on stage. He asks, "What were you, like 15?" Ramsay corrects him, stating he was actually only 11 when that happened!
Ramsay has since released multiple singles, including a debut album, I'll See You In My Dreams, which was released in September of this year.
