"We're Going to Charge Them": Authorities Crack Down on "Teen Takeovers" After Wild Brawl in DC Chipotle

Teens involved in a "teen takeover" descended on a DC Chipotle over the weekend, starting a brawl. Now, authorities are cracking down.

Have you heard of the "teen takeover" trend? It's pretty obvious if you think about it. It's basically where a load of bored teens descend upon a location. And, a lot of the time, things tend to go wrong.

And that's what happened when a teen takeover reached a Chipotle inside Washington, DC. According to the New York Post, a viral video is circulating showing a pretty crazy brawl occurring after a "mob" of teenagers showed up to the Navy Yard.

The teens are shown throwing furniture at each other and screaming in the wild videos. There were even little children around. One girl is seen cowering in her father's arms as the teens wreak havoc.

One video shows the perspective from outside the restaurant, where a group of girls were watching. It shows their varied reactions as chairs start being hurled across the room. One girl goes, "Oh my f****** God bro, damn!".

But, luckily for everyone involved, the police eventually showed up. That same video shows the girls running away from the scene when police lights illuminated the area.

Police Vowed to Arrest the Parents of the Teens Involved in "Teen Takeovers"

But, while there's no indication any of the teens fighting were immediately arrested, there has been a swift response from authorities.

The United States Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro revealed that she intends to stop the "teen takeover" trend in a pretty clear way.

She said that parents of the ill-behaved children will be charged under new legislation. "We're going to charge them, and if you drop your kid off and you fail to supervise them or you let them skip school to join the chaos, you are going to face fines, court-ordered classes and possible jail time," she explained.

And the jail time looks to be pretty hefty. Parents could face a whopping six months in jail. The charge they'd be looking at is "contributing to the delinquency of a minor."

She added that "this sends a clear message to the parents that you must supervise your kids or face criminal consequences."
