The wedding venue in the Cotswolds region in England had to be evacuated. After five bombs were found on the property. According to a November 2 report from PEOPLE.
World War II Bombs Discovered at Wedding Venue
The bombs, which were from World War II, were discovered by workers. Who had been digging in a "planned solar panel field."
The two workers, head gardener Kevin Roberts and subcontractor John Blundell, recalled their discovery to the Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard.
"We were digging a trench to put our solar field in. Within a couple of minutes, we uncovered five mortars, which we believed were live," Roberts said (via PEOPLE).
Blundell added that they initially believed the bombs to be "just broken bits of either gas main or old water main."
"Once we picked them up and cleared the mud off them, we found out they resembled old World War II mortars. Next, we saw the metal flight fins," Blundell said.
Gloucestershire Police said in a
news release that a cordon had been placed around the area in the wake of the discovery."Following the discovery by construction workers in a field in Long Newnton near Tetbury, a 200-meter cordon has been put in place around the site for the public's safety," police said in the November 2 release. "Emergency services are at the scene. Nearby residents and businesses have been evacuated as a precaution. So that personnel from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) can assess the items."

The venue, the Great Thyme Barn, also shared a statement with the Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard.
