Luke Combs capped an emotional episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live by performing his song "Used To You." Though the tune didn't make his debut album This One's For You, the song struck a chord with fans as a track on his 2016 EP of the same name.
Combs shared a little more behind the performance in a post to Twitter. He reveals the band actually planned on taping Combs' segment to air at a later date this fall. But after the Las Vegas shooting, Kimmel asked if he'd perform for the show that night.
"I immediately agreed," Combs said in the post. "In this overwhelming darkness, I believe we will find hope when we rise together. Evil will not win. Fans, it is the blessing of my life to get to make music with you and for you every day. Tonight, may we find light and hope in the chaos."

"Used To You" is a song about losing a loved one. In the tune, Combs sings of gradually getting used to the signs of somebody's absence, but never them being gone. It's an emotional song and a beautiful tribute to the hundreds of victims.
Combs performed earlier on Sunday at the Route 91 Harvest Festival. As most know by now, later that evening, a gunman opened fire on the crowd from a nearby hotel window, killing at least 59 and injuring more than 500 more.
Jimmy Kimmel made mention of Combs on his show in an emotional and searing monologue that night. Choking up and visibly stirred throughout the nearly 10-minute speech, Kimmel shared his thoughts on the tragedy as a native of Las Vegas.
Combs' scheduling on the show happened to be a coincidence, but it proved an important moment. For an act who just a day earlier played at what became America's deadliest mass shooting in modern history to go out and play on stage once again shows the resiliency of musicians and music lovers everywhere.
