Watch Kris Kristofferson Sing With Margo Price at Nashville Show

At the first of their three shows at Nashville's the Basement East, Kris Kristofferson and Ben Haggard were joined onstage by special guest Margo Price.

Backed by Ben Haggard and the Strangers, Kristofferson and Price launched into Kristofferson's classic song "Why Me." The two were joined onstage by Kristofferson's daughter, Casey Kristofferson.

"Why Me," which showcased the country legend's own religious experience, hit No. 1 in 1973 and featured vocals from country artist and Kristofferson's then-wife Rita Coolidge. The song has been covered by George Jones, Elvis Presley, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash and several other artists.

This isn't the first time Kristofferson and Price have shared the stage. The pair delivered a incredible rendition of "Me and Bobby McGee" at the Newport Folk Festival in 2016.

Price will kick off a run of shows at the Ryman Auditorium on May 19 with Tyler Childers and Colter Wall.

Kristofferson and Ben Haggard will wrap up their sold out three-night run at the Basement East on May 16. The two are joined by members of Merle Haggard's legendary backing band, the Strangers. Kristofferson and Ben Haggard did a string of shows together shortly after Merle Haggard's death in 2016.
