This dude is killing it!!

One up-and-coming musician got a big surprise from Hunter Hayes during his small acoustic performance this Fourth of July.

Hayes was enjoying a meal at Bidwell Restaurant inside Union Market in Washington D.C.'s NoMa district when he heard a very familiar song. Local artist Sheen Righter was playing his own rendition of Hayes' 2012 hit "Wanted" just a few feet away. When Hayes stood up to record Righter's performance, Righter excitedly motioned him over to join him at the microphone. Moments later, the two finished off the song to a flood of applause from those looking on inside the eatery.

Soon after, Hayes posted the video of their encounter on his official Facebook page with the caption, "This dude is killing it!!" Righter also shared the video with the simple caption, "What a day." It was easy to see the chance encounter brought a lot of joy to both musicians alike.

Hayes was in D.C. preparing for his performance during the televised A Capitol Fourth Independence Day celebration, which also featured music from The Voice's Meghan Linsey and Alabama. The young artist is now back on the road with Lady Antebellum for its Wheels Up 2015 Tour and is busy promoting his latest single, "21".

A full list of Hunter Hayes' upcoming tour dates has been posted at his official website.
