The high schooler put a modern country twist on Cline’s 1962 release, which talks of missing a former love who’s moved on. After the performance, Roberts’ coach Blake Shelton praised her flawless and fresh take on the classic song.
“I can’t stop smiling right now. My heart is pounding. That was so good… I want people at home to know I have never had a better collaborator in nine seasons than Emily Ann,” Shelton said of Roberts after her performance. “She is so smart and knows who she is as an artist. You have had incredible performances, but that was your best performance so far.”
Roberts has made into the Top 10 finalist for this season, and is following a path already traveled by many other Team Blake members who became winners in previous years. Over the past nine seasons, Shelton has sent country artists Danielle Bradbery, Cassadee Pope and The Swon Brothers to the finish line.
You can see if Roberts survives another week when The Voice returns Dec. 7 at 8/7 CT on NBC.
