According to a report by The Daily Mail, Adam Borucki discovered a large metal object in his back garden. He notified emergency services, and police quickly determined it was likely debris from a space rocket. More specifically, the Falcon 9 Rocket, which launched from Vandenburg Air Force Base in California earlier this month.

Police say Borucki reported an object about 1.5 by 1 meters in size appearing on his premises overnight. This came as a shock as the object appeared despite the area being locked. Police spokesman Andrzej Borowiak explained, 'Considering the fact that the second stage of the Falcon rocket was expected to enter the atmosphere over Poland this morning, we notified the State Space Agency. We are investigating how the object ended up in this location, but the important thing is that no one was harmed.'

Per a report by The Independent, the Polish space agency suspects the rocket was carrying a payload of Starlink satellites. The outlet also suggests a second identical container was found in the Wiry Village forest roughly 19 miles away.

Per a Google translation, the post explains that the streaks are the remains of the second stage of the Falcon 9 rocket from SpaceX burning in the atmosphere, according to Astronomer Karol Wójcicki. No news sources have reported injuries or fatalities.

This Isn't The First Time Rocket Debris Has Landed Near Populated Areas

Debris from spacecraft landing around residential areas is rare, but it does happen. In June last year, a family from Florida sued NASA. A piece of a spaceship hurtled toward the ground and reportedly struck their house. The impact was so severe it punched a hole in the roof and floor. The family's son was allegedly at home at the time and, thankfully, wasn't hurt.

The Daily Mail also reports an equally large piece of space debris landed on a private farm in Washington in 2021.
