When a country starts locking up its food products, you know there is something terribly wrong with the economy. Walmart shoppers have been shocked to find that there are now anti-theft devices on the meats, locking them against potential desperate and hungry thieves.

The video posted on TikTok shows steaks in a Walmart locked up to deter theft. Wire cages are used so that the meat can still be expected, but can't be taken without first paying. It's the same kind of thing they use with alcohol bottles. But this isn't to deter desperate alcoholics. It's to deter the hungry poor people of the US.
As the person shooting the video states, "Baby, this is when you know it's bad. When they put miniature gates on the meats." If theft of food is getting so common that Walmart has to put anti-theft devices on them, something is not quite right with the economy.
Locked Up Meats Doesn't Bode Well
Some things are often locked up due to desperation. Items such as electronics, which resell for a lot, are commonly kept behind anti-theft devices. Alcohol, also, is kept in a secure area to stop kids and addicts from stealing it. Both of these things have a reasonable cause for anti-theft devices.
However, seeing Walmart using anti-theft devices on meat only tells me one thing. People are getting desperate and hungry. People aren't stealing meat to resell on the black market. They're not stealing because they're addicts either. The only reason someone would steal food is due to starving desperation.
When a country has such a massive increase in hopeless and hungry people, a close look needs to be given to the economy. The first responsibility of any society is to ensure the people in it are fed, clothed, and housed. As soon as one of those elements starts to fail, the society has failed.

Now, Walmart apparently has to prevent citizens from stealing meat with anti-theft devices. Although, many are wondering who wants to buy steak at Walmart to begin with.
