You probably know Walker Hayes' hit song "Fancy Like" off his 2021 EP Country Stuff. You probably also know that the song really pushes Applebee's as the place to be for a fancy meal.
"Yeah, we fancy like Applebee's on a date night / Got that Bourbon Street steak with the Oreo shake / Get some whipped cream on the top, too / Two straws, one check, girl, I got you".
And, to be honest, he does a pretty good job at preaching Applebee's name. It does sound pretty appealing.
However, according to Penn Live, he has become sick of the food. He must've done such a good job at advertising the restaurant that he received a gold card. This means he gets to eat there for free, for life.
When asked if he still used it, Walker Hayes responded, "You know man, Applebee's was so good to us, and they always are... but you know, you fatigue of a restaurant, you know what I mean?".
"I mean the food is solid and the service is amazing - the whole brand is amazing", he continued. He said he and his family used the card a little too much, "We did meet and greets there, we've had to-go boxes with steaks, we've had so many Oreo shakes, you would not believe. I'd be fine if I never ate another Oreo again." At least he's honest about his favorite order in the song!

Walker Hayes Might Enjoy This New Combination Restaurant
While it looks like Walker Hayes might have tired himself out of Applebee's, maybe he can be swayed back.
The New York Post reported that the owners of Applebee's, Dine Brands, plan to make combination IHOP-Applebee's restaurants available nationwide. The concept has already thrived across the Middle East, Mexico, and Canada. The first combination restaurant in Texas also reported great sales numbers.
John Payton, the Dine Brands CEO, said in an interview that the "beautiful integration" will make restaurant owners up to three times more money than their current earnings.
I wonder if the gold card will mean he gets unlimited free pancakes, too?
no surprise! after stupid covid and free govt money servers did not want to work! service sucked big time, especially Applebee's and corp couldn't care less! adios! there are plenty places to dine that treat your nice!
